Lloyd Lyons on "Sauce" | Cares Fall AwayA Fox Hunting Poem
By Sandra Judy The mounts are clean and fit Our spirits light and gay! The huntsman leads the hounds to cast the covert of the day. All quiet now, "Be still!" our anxious breaths we hold. Hounds snuffle in the brush "G'win an' find" they're told. The scent of quarry both thick and sweet rises up above the ground. And like a chorus sung with joy, hounds cry a glorious sound! The sly one streaks across the field, a bullet of red and white. The huntsman blows his horn now "gone away!" And all prepare for flight. As thoughts of work and mundane things a world of worry tonight, fly, left behind, all out of mind. The thrill makes burdens light. |

My HorseCavorting or resting
in fields of green whose eyes reflect a time unseen Where saber-toothed cats or a ferocious bear or a two-legged red-skinned man with long hair, would be waiting to pounce, tearing into the throat chasing into a tar pit, a cliff or a moat And yet the most terrifying monster to date is the horse blanket hanging out by the gate! |
Scientific Illustration
