My pricing is similar to other barefoot trimmers in the area. However I am currently the only person in NC who has attended the year-long Strasser hoof professional's course 2005-2006 so my pricing reflects the extra expense I went to to gain my expertise.

Consult only: ..................................
$45 per horse
Remove shoes...............................$30 per 4 feet/ $15 per 2
First trim includes consult: ........$75
Regular trim (every 4 to 5 week, for well-behaved horse)............$50
NEW for regular clients ONLY! For 3 or more horses, $45 each! (Does not apply for first-time trims)
Trimming generally takes 1 hour or less per horse.
If owner wants to go longer than 6 weeks, i will charge $25 extra which is same as for first time trim
Draft or Draft Cross........................$65
Difficult horses will be charged the same as a first time trim
Trim waiver must be signed prior to my trimming your horse (click below for printable form)
Photo records ( I take photos for my records) both Before, After, edit, label, put them on a CD-$25
Travel charges: within 20 miles of my home......$20
More than 20 miles away, $.50 per mile
I recommend trimming a healthy-footed horse every 4 weeks. Pathological cases (founder, navicular or other) may need trimming at least every 2 weeks. (I do not charge extra for this very highly skilled trimming but I expect owners to have me trim at the necessary intervals. I also expect owners to do the rehabilitation program for their specific horse's problems)
Horse's feet should be soaked (unless it rains the day before I come) prior to my trimming. I will not ruin my body or my tools on hard dry hooves!
Basic needs for trimming: well lit flat clean surface like barn aisle, paved surface or rubber mat on paved surface.

Help with problem horses and horsemanship

Picture
Me on my mare leading the 2009 summer fox hunting school
I am available for helping owners with horsemanship issues from handling on the ground to riding basics and over fences. I will come to your farm or you can bring your horse to me for training. I use humane natural horsemanship methods to educate both the horse and the rider. Lessons begin at $45 per hour.

Hoof Care Presentations

Picture
I will come and do a talk for your group or club about the importance of natural hoofcare. I have a wonderful Power Point program, models, posters, bones, hoof capsules and dissections. I can answer all kinds of questions and concerns. This presentation can take about 3 hours. A consultation and trimming session can follow this presentation. I can do a demonstration on one horse or owners can bring horses for trim consults. Call for pricing. 336-698-0784

Hoof Care presentation at Eagle Bear farm Nov. 6-8, 2009

Participants came for an evening lecture with a slide presentation, dissections, and various tools of natural hoofcare explained through models and art. Then many brought horses to be trimmed or for trim consults. Here a mare with a club foot is trimmed. She was turned out and moved beautifully afterwards!
If you would like a hoofcare presentation like this, please contact Sandy for arrangements on date and pricing.

Sandy does a super job presenting important and useful information and skills in her hoof care training programs.  The anatomy/dissected hoof examples were particularly helpful in the understanding of hoof function and appropriate trimming.   Sandy's teaching style is very effective and certainly exhibits her high level of skill and expertise in the area of barefoot trimming. Lauren K.

"The information you presented this weekend was fantastic! Again I realize how little I know and how much more I want to. Dancer is moving great after just 2 trims and his hunter's bump has been significantly reduced. Recently his previous owner came to see him and she was amazed, she had him for about 12 years and she told me that she had always "just thought that was the way he was built". I am trying to keep his feet soaked in ACV solution which hopefully will help in his rehabilitation." DD

"B & I greatly enjoyed your clinic. The pathophysiology of a horse's hoof is amazing! After 35+ years with horses, I never had an understanding of the ultimate importance of the hoof, it was an area I always left to the farrier. Thank you for helping to make us much more knowledgable horse owners." D& B. F.

Photo shows Sandy explaining hoof function to a young man that is a recent graduate of farrier school. His comment to another participant was that he had never learned any of this in farrier school!
