My Mare Dewees
I named her after Dewees Island in South Carolina. She is out of my Holsteiner mare, Cabana, and by the Hanoverian stallion Dederick. This photo was taken a few years ago at Brightwood. I started Dewees under saddle with Dave Seay when she was 3 years old. She's now 15. I've taken her to a police horse clinic and some other clinics with Bill Scott, and others. I did have shoes on her when she was 3; continuously on her front feet, and occasionally on her hinds, to age 6. Even when I tried getting the farrier to put pads on her, she still was tender-footed. Thank goodness I learned about barefoot before the shoes had done more damage than they already did. She is still sometimes tender-footed on rocks but she is obviously landing heel first in this photo. She now has beautiful feet!

NEW! Fox hunting Jan 2010
Thank you to Caroline Young for this photo of Jayson and me at the joint meet with Moore Co. Hounds in Hoffman, NC. What a great picture! This was before the exhausting run after a grey fox and a coyote.
Corde moves to Wisconsin
Corde sometimes suffered from anhydrosis, the inability to sweat. He started having this problem in the summer when it would get really hot for days on end. This year has been the worst so I was lucky to find a new owner in Northern Wisconsin. He will be missed. :-(
Taco
This is Billy's horse Taco, a Paso Fino gelding. And this is Billy with the phone growing out of his ear. Taco is a fast little guy but very smooth. This was a trail ride we went on near Pilot Mountain. Taco has very tough little feet. Billy rides him with a halter most of the time.

Jake to the rescue!
This is me holding an injured fawn riding Jake, a 20 yr. old Paso Fino. Jake is a gentleman but unfortunately, has DSLD. I bought him in the hopes that I could fix it with my trimming expertise but later found out he's too far gone. He does feel better than he did when I got him but his fetlock is as big as a softball and very dropped down. He is just the sweetest boy! I would give him away to a good home. I think he would be fine for a child on short rides.
Chapin

Photo taken before I got him.
This 15.3H 5 yr old TB gelding was in pretty bad shape when i got him from a friend in SC. His owner abandoned him so as not to pay the board and I picked him up so he wouldn't end up at the killers. He has turned into a nice horse. He would make a nice small lady's horse or a junior's horse. (see Horses For Sale, this site)
