My Belgium Paint cross foundered twice, and was still limping 8 months after the 2nd founder before I found Sandy, my new hoofcare specialist. Sandy has trimmed him four times and he is getting better and better. The other day this 20-year-old gelding decided he wanted to join his pasture buddies and jumped a 4.5 foot fence! He used to always stumble, and he rarely stumbles now. Sandy's knowledge of horse anatomy and physiology is thorough, and she has really helped all my horses. Hi Sandra I want to tell you, I have had a real education from reading your information. I was given your information from a wonderful lady named Marrianne (farrier) here in FL. I know I will have to go back and re- read ... I have been breeding and raising TWH (flat-shod), for many years. I have never approved of the built-up horses. That was then this is now.. I just have 7 horses and have cut my stallions to live out their lives... peacefully. I did not realize all that I did not know (and I do alot of research). I wish I could do my own horses. The anatomy/dissected hoof examples were particularly helpful in the understanding of hoof function and appropriate trimming.
